October Luncheon

  • October 06, 2014
  • 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • The Monday Club, San Luis Obispo, 1815 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo CA 93401
“My name has been my walk in life,” the Cal Poly Women’s Basketball coach said. “It’s perfect.”   So well spoken by our October guest speaker, Faith Mimnaugh.

The name reflects the faith she has in her players, in the university where she works and in her own ability to coach a Division I basketball program. It also speaks to the values of her family and of her own rather shaky start in life. Born prematurely, she and her twin sister were named Faith and Joy; faith they would live and joy they did.

Mimnaugh is now Cal Poly’s second longest tenured coach, second only to Alex Crozier’s 23 years, as she heads into her 18th season. After a standout in high school, Faith played for Loyola University Chicago. After graduating, she went on to play professional basketball in the South Pacific, where after only one season she became a coach. She came back to the US in 1990 and studied for her Masters at North Carolina State.  While there, she served as an assistant and then head coach. After NC State came a stint as head coach at University of Evansville. In 1996 she came to Cal Poly as an assistant coach, becoming head coach only a year later.

Luncheon cost is $17 and can be paid for in advance by clicking her: Brown Paper Tickets Link (to be linked soon).  Please note that you MUST have a lunch reservation by September 29th for this event.  All those with a reservation may pay in advance using the above link or at the door.

Donations for The Women's Shelter this month are liquid laundry soap, dryer sheets, bleach etc.  Thank you!
